Present Louis I Michaels Theatres Ltd.
Chief Electrician & IT Manager
| I started working as a technician for
the group at the Strand
Theatre in 1984 and was promoted to Deputy Chief Electrician
in 1986. |
| In 1990 I moved to the Theatre
Royal Haymarket to take over as Chief Electrician. As Head of
Department I have been responsible for the day to day management
of all technical aspects of the theatre and its productions,
employment & training of personnel, budget & purchase
control. I have also taken an active role in the development of
health & safety policy. |
| Since 1995 I have also taken
on the responsibilities of IT Manager, installing and managing a
network of computers at the
Theatre Royal Haymarket and also
the Strand
Theatre until it was transferred to the Delfont Macintosh Group in
2003. I
have developed a number of custom applications to support the
needs of the business and have overseen the introduction of
systems for accounts, payroll, call billing and building
management. In addition I provide internal training and support for hardware & software. |
1980 – 1984
University of London
Technician
| I ran the technical department for
student entertainment services at the University of London Union, operating & maintaining
equipment for sound & lighting of theatrical, musical &
cultural events, discos, films & audio/visual presentations. |
| I developed a TeleText based
point-of-sale promotion system comprising of page design &
slide-show software running on a BBC Microcomputer. |
| I also developed a script-driven
interactive questionnaire/research system
for the Ergonomics Unit at
University College, London. |

MSN - The Microsoft Network
| Between 1995 and 1997 I worked as a
forum manager for MSN UK,
dealing originally with the Science & Technology category and
subsequently with the Arts-Nature-History forum. I was responsible for
moderating & stimulating discussion in newsgroups, linking the forum
with related web sites &
newsgroups, setting up sub-forums to deal with hot
topics such as BSE and hosting topical chat sessions on a regular
basis. I was also active in the Education and Computing
forums. |
Open University
| Moderator for various course and
computing related conferences on the FirstClass online conference
system from 1997 to 2001. |

| Freelance technical work for theatre, trade shows,
