If you've been the unlucky victim of the vbs.loveletter worm,
commonly referred to as the lovebug virus, you will discover that there are
still problems once the virus has been removed. Windows Explorer may not display
your files and folders correctly, and there may be problems with desktop themes and
email templates. This happens because the virus replaces all copies of various
file types with copies of itself. Microsoft's themes rely on a collection of .jpg
images and the 'Web view' in Windows Explorer relies on a number of cascading
style sheets.
I have created a zip file containing the files that are
destroyed in a typical Windows 9.x / MS Office installation.
You will need WinZip or a similar package
to unpack files from the archive and you should check that the default
location for each file matches the installation paths used on your system.
